Join us for the first solo piano concert at Atelier Kromatica, for some unconventional fun ON & INSIDE the piano!

Our artistic director, Tin Yi Chelsea Wong, will be returning to some repertoire that shaped heavily who she is as a pianist, with George Crumb's mystical Makrokosmos Book I and II zodiac fantasy pieces, and a dedicated piece by Lukáš Janata - Echi - which Chelsea premiered in 2017. Another feature on the program is Fazil Say's nostalgic Black Earth, reflecting the current losses our world is actively experiencing, in Iran, Ukraine, Congo, and many other war-ridden lands. Extra special treat of a live loop performance on the Liberated Piano, an instrument invented by Mauro Ffortissimo.

This program is built with the hope of bypassing the surface of consciousness, with music rarely heard that literally requires the pianist’s hands to reach deep inside the piano, to arrive at a mindstate of myth, wonder, and reality reconstruction. Perhaps we can build differently, perhaps we can have a world with more acceptance, less ego, more cuddles, less war. Perhaps music can help free our minds to envision what that looks like.
