Frequency Frontiers

  • Atelier Kromatica 182 Shipley Street San Francisco, CA, 94107 United States (map)

Four musical inventors, exploring the frontier of frequencies in concert and in conversation. Featuring Roziht Eve, SoundWorkshop, Dan Gorelick, and Tin Yi Chelsea Wong, this is an evening where audience can interact up-close with new instruments and their builders, and enjoy a one-hour set of flowing, soothing, and world-shaking sonic frequencies.

Roziht Eve

Roziht Eve is a Taiwanese American multi-instrumentalist, improv enthusiast, vocalist, and media composer based in San Francisco whose genre-bending work draws from sacred chants, classical music, jazz, Enya, and EDM. Roziht completed her master's degree in Technology Applied Composition at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2023. She is an active performer and collaborator in the Bay Area, with appearances at SFCM TAC program, SFMOMA, the San Francisco Symphony’s SoundBox, Asian Art Museum, Envelop SF, Gray Area, The Lab SF, 1015 Folsom and numerous music festivals and residencies including Yerba Buena Garden festival, SF Electronic Music festival, psytrance festivals, Robot Heart residencies, and Envelop SF artist residency program. She is also an enthusiastic music educator for all age groups.

Chris Guichet

Chris at Sound Workshop is on a mission to make an expressive electronic music instrument for emotional melodies.  He will be playing his instrument Flexur, which has two floating touch bars that allow for continuous pitch and volume control, like a cello crossed with a miniMoog on Arrakis.

Dan Gorelick

Dan Gorelick is an interdisciplinary artist who blends his classical cello and computation background to create immersive experiences, interactive installations, and improvisational performances. He explores how sound can create embodied and expressive works that blend acoustic, electronic, and digital techniques – finding ways to make the computer as expressive as the cello.

He is currently exploring broader definitions of technology, and how sound can allow us to connect to non-human timescales – spanning biological, human, geological, and beyond. His work has been shared at the New Museum, La MaMa, Asian Art Museum, Gray Area, and Haus der Kulturen der Welt, and has been featured in the New York Times, and San Francisco Chronicle. He was a part of NEW INC Year 10 and 11 in the Art & Code track. Dan is now based in Brooklyn, NY with active ties to San Francisco/Bay Area and Berlin art communities.

Tin Yi Chelsea Wong

Pianist Tin Yi Chelsea Wong’s international career spans a wide variety of performance spaces. Appearances include San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts, Grace Cathedral, Salzburg Wienersaal, and the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. An advocate of contemporary music, she premiered many new works across the Bay Area. With a focus on extended techniques, Chelsea Wong invented the Harmonic Capo to create new possibilities for the instrument, and performs on the Liberated Piano. Her new venue Atelier Kromatica in SOMA of San Francisco presents experimental classical concerts, and hosts an annual Piano Beach Bonfire at Ocean Beach, San Francisco.
